The EME programme is managed by a secretariat at the NIHR Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre (NETSCC), based at the University of Southampton. The Director of NETSCC, EME is Dr Matt Westmore. The secretariat ensures that effective procedures are followed to ensure that the highest quality, and best value for money, research is funded.

The secretariat works closely with researchers, the EME Board, appropriate experts and other research funding programmes.

The EME Programme is funded by the MRC and NIHR, with contributions from the CSO in Scotland and NISCHR in Wales and the HSC R&D Division, Public Health Agency in Northern Ireland. It is managed by the NIHR Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre (NETSCC) based at the University of Southampton.
